Jarmila Stukova

Jarmila Štuková is an award-winning Czech photographer and photojournalist known for her compelling work in areas affected by war, poverty, and social issues. Since 2005, she has documented powerful human stories across Ethiopia, Haiti, India, Cameroon, Afghanistan, and Iraq — focusing on child prostitution, natural disasters, acid attacks, breast ironing, and violence against women. Syria remains one of her most important destinations. She returns frequently to capture life in refugee camps, hospitals, and war‑torn cities, highlighting social issues overlooked by the media. Her work extends beyond photography to educational lectures and creative production, having studied production at the renowned DAMU Academy in Prague. Under her direction, several successful video projects have been created to raise awareness about the difficult lives of disabled individuals, including Paralympians and burn patients. Jarmila has received the prestigious Czech Press Photo award thirteen times and holds multiple international awards recognizing her impactful storytelling and humanitarian focus.
