Mamdouh Kashlan

Mamdouh Kashlan was born in 1929 in Damascus and died in 2022, in 1957 he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, the Department of Photography, and then completed the study of the art of graphics in San Jacomo, Rome, to practise the arts of painting, photography and drilling. He worked as an art teacher and became an inspector at the Syrian Ministry of Education until his retirement. He also served as a professor of honour at the Noor Mana Academy of Fine Arts in Italy. He is a founder of the General Federation of Arab Plastic Artists, founder and director of the Ebla Fine Arts gallery in Damascus since 1980. Elected Captain of Fine Arts in Syria several times, served as Deputy Secretary-General of the Federation of Arab Fine Artists, member of the UNESCO International Council of Museums, correspondent member of the World Society of Fine Arts and member of the Supreme Council for Literature and Arts. He composed books on art and art education, and books about artists: Mahmoud Jalal, Louay Kayali. UNICEF printed art cards on his large paintings and distributed them worldwide
