Nazir Naba
Nazir Naba was born in in Damascus 1939 and died in 2016, graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cairo in 1965. During his studies in Egypt, he met his wife, Shalabia Ibrahim, who is also an artist. He continued his studies and received another degree from the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Paris in 1974. He also taught at the College of Fine Arts in Damascus.
Using radiant colours, Naba works is known for offering women in an oriental setting that evokes patriotism and history, forming this exemplary portrayal of the patriotic spirit. The creative outcome of the artist Nazir Naba varies between depictions of Arab women, abstract portraits, silent nature and political posters in works that are characterized by mastery at the level of detail and artistic formations.
