Omar Hamdi

Omar Hamdi was born in the village of Tal Nayef, which belongs to Hasakah province in northeastern Syria in 1951 and died in 2015. The artist known as "Malva" has developed his artistic style since he was a teenager, leaving his house accompanied by his paintings while he is still 17 years old. He worked in Damascus as an art critic and graphic designer for local magazines and for the Ministry of Education. Hamdi paintings range from protective diagnostic panels rooted in the oriental spirit, to abstract works involving elements of nature and geometric forms. Later in life, his work was increasingly acclaimed, especially those impressionistic scenes.
