Zaki Sallam

 Zaki Sallam was a Palestinian sculptor born in Damascus in 1958 to a family abandoned from the village of Tantara in Haifa, Palestine, as a result of the 1948 Nakba War. He studied at the Faculty of Fine Arts at Damascus University. He graduated in 1984 and completed his studies in 2000. Zaki artistic methods, in which he has adopted themes for research and discovery, by the use of stone, wood and mud in his works, which have been particularly influenced by Palestinian reality. In 2012, Zaki emigrated to Algeria, influencing his artistic style by becoming more dramatic. He blended the suffering of the Syrian refugee with the Palestinian migrant and his sculptures restored the relationship between the subject and the material by focusing on certain elements such as family, group and society.
