Abdul Manan Shamma

Abdul mannan Shamma was born in Homs in 1937 and his talents emerged at an early age and are being taught by his mentor, Sobhi Shuaib, who encouraged him to continue the course of plastic art.

He studied photography at the Moscow Academy and graduated in 1971.

He won the seat to pursue high studies for the Faculty of Fine Arts of Damascus University, after which he was sent for the second time to Moscow for this purpose. He get master's Degree in Wall Photography from Moscow's Sorikov Academy of Plastic Arts.

The artist has achieved many achievements that have complemented the Syrian art with aesthetically distinct works that reflect the reality of life in Damascus and Homs, in a way that combines classical and folkloric traditions. In his paintings, he portrayed the city alleyways. The artist pays great attention to the colour and surfaces that remind the viewer of the distribution of shapes and decorations in old mosaic paintings in Syria. Art is part of his being as a human being who aspires to express what is in his self and imagination.
