Asma Fayoumi

Asma Fayoumii born in Amman, Jordan 1943 graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Damascus and was taught by Italian artist Guido la Regina. In these formative years, it became part of the Syrian abstract movement, which was influenced by the political climate and sought social change. During her long career, Fayoumi painted different methods and explored different topics. Initially it engaged in abstract orientation and painted the streets of Damascus. Over time, her works has become more expressive with multilayered symbols, dynamic characters and vital drawings. With sensitivity and intuition, it expresses a wide range of emotions from anxiety and pain to warmth and tenderness.
